Introduction to Oracle 18C

Few Questions before you start learning Oracle cloud

1.What is bare metal cloud Bare metal cloud is an environment in which physical, dedicated servers can be provisioned to customers with cloud-like ease and speed. Bare metal cloud customers are given access to the entire processing power of individual servers, as well as any storage, networking or other services they require. Within a bare metal infrastructure there is no multi-tenanting (sharing of machines) and the servers provisioned are not virtual ones created on top of any hyper-visor. Customers of bare metal cloud are free to use their dedicated servers in any way they want, including running any OS and applications as well as installing hypervisors to create their own virtual machines if they want. And bare metal cloud is provided as a service, with monthly payments and on-demand flexibility. In Short: Instead of buying separate hardware for your organization , you will pay or rent your infrastructure. 2.what is hypervisor?  A hypervisor or virtual machine mon...

Step by Step to Configure Data-guard 11g on RHEL6.2

Image
I am writing this blog to show step by step process of configuring data-guard in a simple process. As per my knowledge people who were new to data-guard find it very difficult to configure but seriously it is very easy. First I would like to explain my environment , after then I will give simple steps the followed by details steps. My environment: ============ OS : RHEL6.2 Database Version : 11.2.0.4 VM : Oracle VM Node 1: test1.oracle.com Node 2: test2.oracle.com Primary database name : orcl Stand-by database name : orcl_stby step 1: Preparing  you environment by making sure you were able to ping from both the nodes step 2: Please install oracle software on node 2 and then configure listener step 3: Now test the defined connection string from both the nodes step 4: Now come to primary node and login to the database step 5: Define the required parameters on primary node to setup dataguard step 6: Take the backup of the primary database control file step 7:...

Database cloning using duplicate database from active database RMAN command

Image
Introduction: ========= Oracle RMAN Active Database Duplication is a new feature introduced in Oracle 11g R1. This option helps perform database copies without the need for relying on the source database backup. Oracle RMAN makes a copy of the source database (active database) at run time without the need of using its backup for the duplicate exercise.  I have found it very interesting and finally want to implement before I want to post it. However I feel this process will consume more load on the source server  This blog gives you a very simple way of cloning the database for the novice , as I am not making too complicated . Before I start I would like to share my environment  source Database name : orcl   Target Database name : clone   source server hostname : test1.oracle.com   target server hostname  : test2.oracle.com  Source listener  running on 1529   Target listener running on 15...
